Broad-winged promotes a Learner-driven environment, this means that the desire to be there comes from within. The goal of elementary school is to instill a love of learning, reading, and play. This will translate into a lifelong love of learning; into middle school, high school, and through adulthood. We value excellence and encourage each learner to embark on a Hero's Journey, instead of forcing cooperation and servitude. Our value of excellence is represented in mastery of each topic; meaning advancement will only come with displays of complete aptitude. 

The tuition is set at $1,000 a month per learner for our 10-month program (August-May). This can be paid in full by the end of August or in monthly installments by the end of each month.  

Yes! Oklahoma has enacted the Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit Program, "Get up to $7,500 for Private School Expenses - The Parental Choice Tax Credit program provides a refundable income tax credit of $5,000-$7,500 for eligible Oklahoma Taxpayers who pay, or expect to pay, qualified expenses such as tuition and fees to an eligible private school on behalf of an eligible student that attends or plans to attend an eligible private school during that tax year." Broad-winged is a nonprofit and invests any tuition, gifts, or gratuities into the school. This means the money will be divided into the rent, guide's salaries, supplies, studio upkeep, and our affiliation membership. Imagine not having to go school supply shopping ever again. For complete transparency our financials will always be available upon request. 

Yes, since we are an affiliate of the Acton Academies we are certified by the International Association of Learner-Driven Schools (IALDS). 

The dress code is simply weather-appropriate. The tribe can collectively vote on any parameters they wish to apply to the dress code so the adoption and enforcement will be self-administered. There is no absence policy, if your family is taking a vacation then the learner may be asked to share their experiences with the tribe. If they are sick then stay home, just let us know so we do not worry about you. There is no homework. There is plenty of time in the studio for core skills. We do not teach rote memorization of facts, each learner is on a discovery mission to figure out how to find answers, not pass tests with information that will not be remembered after the test.
